Football Vs Cricket

Ah, the world cup is going on and the whole world is cheering their country to win, and then there are 100 crore people sitting in their drawing room, cheering for some other country. This is our great Indians. We are the second largest in terms of population and we cannot find 15 players out of such a huge crowd (yes crowd). What is the reason? Then comes a statement from our cricket captain that this time “I Promise we will bring world cup” Mr. MS Dhoni. We all are so excited that in cricket at least we have something on which we can be proud off.

What is the reason that we are not there in football. The reason is that we are so casual by nature that we do not have that mental framework to play this game which brings that adrenaline rush. A game, which requires alignment of mind and body, every second. Football is a game in which the players are continuously on the run, high level of fitness is required, very high mental tolerance and the pressure handling capabilities are required. We Indians are so casual and let go types that we are not at all fit for such a game. We are fit for cricket, they call it gentleman’s game, I call it the lazy game. At a time one person is bowling and one is batting rest all are spectators. If ball comes to the fielder he will run otherwise he can rest for the whole match standing on this position.

This shows that our alignment of mind and body which is required to progress in any field is not there. Our actions and not aligned with our thoughts. We take everything so casually, the fire in the belly to keep on progressing towards the other goal post is not there. We are not having that zeal to conquer the field. The killer instinct is missing.

We are progressing in some field of sports, Vishwanthan Anand, sania Nehwal, Vijender Singh, Rajyavardhan Rathore, some names we can be proud off. The game which requires relying on the other person to take the ball to the goal, is not meant for us. We are not able to work in a team where we can pass our ball for the benefit of the team. We are so egoistic in our everyday approach that we want that our ball should not go to somebody else. We cannot create goals and give the ball to someone else to actually put it in the net. We want our own power and status. This approach towards life and towards our individuality is becoming a such a hindrance in progress of our country and at the same time progress of our own self.

By taking this example of football and cricket I just wanted to bring this picture in front of our people that this is high time we should start playing as a team for the country. Then we can progress and not only the world cup we can conquer the world, we just need focus and our thoughts and align our actions so that we are there to stand in front of the world and say “Ï am a proud Indian”.
